Skateboard Lessons in Hartsdale

One-on-one instruction at Ridge Road Park and spots around the Greenburgh area.

Why Learn in Hartsdale

Greenburgh Parks

The Greenburgh park system has paved paths and open areas that work well for skateboard lessons. Ridge Road Park is the go-to, with flat terrain and enough space for drills without competing for room.

Central Location

Hartsdale sits between Scarsdale, White Plains, and Ardsley. Families from any of those areas can keep lessons local without a long drive to a skatepark.

Hartsdale is one of those Westchester communities where the parks are solid but not overrun — the kind of spot where a kid can learn to skateboardwithout feeling like they’re performing for an audience. Leon uses the paved paths and flat areas in Greenburgh parks to teach balance, pushing, and turning in a setting that feels low-key and manageable.

If you’re in Scarsdale, White Plains, Edgemont, or Ardsley, Hartsdale is close enough that you’re not spending the whole afternoon in the car. Leon comes to you, sets up, and handles everything — you just need to show up with your kid and sneakers.

Where Lessons Happen

Leon teaches at parks and flat areas around Hartsdale. Here are the spots he uses most.

Ridge Road Park

Paved paths and open flat areas in the heart of Greenburgh. Leon uses the smooth walkways for pushing drills and balance work. Plenty of parking and easy to find.

Greenburgh Nature Center Area

Paved paths near the nature center provide flat, smooth surfaces for beginners. A quieter setting that works well for younger kids who need fewer distractions.

Nearby Flat Areas

Hartsdale has several school and community areas with flat, paved surfaces that work for lessons. Leon picks based on time of day and what you're working on.

What to Expect

Leon sizes up each student before they step on the board—where they’re at, what they want to learn, and what pace feels right. For first lessons, that means stance, balance, and pushing. For returning students, he builds on what you already know and pushes the difficulty when you’re ready.

Each session is about an hour. Wear flat-soled sneakers and clothes that don’t restrict movement. Leon can provide a board if needed, but having your own is best for practicing between lessons. Helmets are required for students under 18.
