What to Expect
Westport has its own skatepark, and for students with some experience, that’s where a lot of the progress happens. Beginners usually start somewhere flatter and more open — a driveway, the Compo Beach parking area, wherever there’s smooth ground and room to roll. Leon travels to you and brings gear if needed. Every lesson opens with a quick check-in: what do you want to work on? Newcomers cover stance, balance, and their first push. Students who’ve been skating keep building from there.
Sessions last about an hour. Your own board is ideal, but one can be provided. Wear flat-soled sneakers and clothes you can move in — the first lesson guide has the full list of what to bring and what to expect. Helmets are required for students under 18.
