Why Learn in Yonkers
A Dedicated Skatepark
The Yonkers Skatepark near the Beczak Environmental Center has ramps, ledges, and flat ground for all levels. Leon uses it for students who want to progress beyond the basics and start learning park skills.
Easy Access from the Bronx
Yonkers sits right on the Bronx border. If you're coming from the north Bronx or southern Westchester, it's one of the most convenient places to meet Leon for a lesson.
Where Lessons Happen
Leon teaches at parks and open spaces across Yonkers. Here are the main spots.
Yonkers Skatepark (Beczak)
Located near the Beczak Environmental Center along the waterfront. The park has ramps, ledges, and flat sections. Leon uses it for students who want to practice tricks and transitions, and the flat area works for beginners too.
Tibbetts Brook Park
A large park with paved paths and open areas. Leon teaches here when students want a flat, spacious surface for learning to push, turn, and cruise without distractions.
Untermyer Park Area
Paved areas near the park entrance with room to spread out. A good option for students who want a quieter setting, especially younger kids or adults picking up skating for the first time.
What to Expect
Every session starts with Leon asking what you’re hoping to get out of it. New skaters work on stance, balance, and pushing. If you’ve been at it for a while, Leon focuses on the specific tricks or skills you want to build.
Lessons are about an hour. Leon brings boards and helmets. Wear flat-soled sneakers and clothes you can move in. Helmets are required for students under 18.

What Students Say
“I wouldn't be who I am today nor as confident in myself and what I do if it wasn't for this guy. He took something like teaching skateboarding and showed me it can be applied to a lot of things in life. He takes the time when teaching and never gets frustrated with you. Leon could teach me rocket science if he really wanted lol. He is that great!”
