Bronxville is one of the smallest villages in Westchester — about one square mile. That compact size means everything is walkable, and most of the spots Leon uses for lessons are within a few blocks of each other. Leonard Morange Park, the sidewalks along Pondfield Road, and the Dogwood Park area are all close enough that Leon can shift locations mid-lesson if one spot gets crowded or a student wants to try a different surface.
The village doesn’t have a lot of flat open space compared to bigger towns, but the sidewalks are wide and well-maintained, and the side streets off Pondfield rarely have much traffic. Leon uses those real-world surfaces once students are past the first few sessions, because learning to ride on a sidewalk with driveways, slight slopes, and occasional pedestrians builds practical skills that park-only lessons don’t cover. For families near Sarah Lawrence College or the Bronxville train station, Leon usually meets at the park on Midland Avenue — it’s central and has good pavement.

A quieter spot with smooth pavement and low foot traffic. Leon uses this area when students want a calm environment to focus on fundamentals or work through something specific.
Pondfield Road Area
The wide, smooth sidewalks around Pondfield Road give students a real-world skating surface. Leon uses this area for cruising practice once students have their balance and pushing down.
What to Expect
Bronxville is hilly in places, but Leon has mapped out every flat stretch in the village. He’ll meet you at the spot that makes sense for what you’re working on—Leonard Morange Park for open space, the Pondfield Road sidewalks for real-world cruising, or a quiet section of the Dogwood area. First-time skaters start with stance, balance, and getting comfortable rolling. Returning students pick up where they left off.
