Edgemont is an unincorporated community in the Town of Greenburgh with one of the strongest school districts in Westchester County. Families move here for the schools, the tree-lined streets, and the sense of neighborhood. Youth sports and enrichment programs are a big part of the culture — but skateboarding hasn’t been part of that mix. There’s no skatepark, no rec department skate program, and no local option for kids who want to try it.
Leon fills that gap. He meets students at Greenburgh Town Park, the flat areas near Seely Place Park, or on a quiet stretch of sidewalk in the neighborhood. Beginners start with stance and balance on flat ground. Once they’re comfortable pushing and turning, Leon moves to surfaces with more texture — gentle slopes, uneven pavement, the kind of terrain they’ll encounter when they skate on their own. Families don’t need to go anywhere. Leon brings the lesson to the neighborhood.

The main park in the area with paved paths, open fields, and flat pavement. Leon uses the parking lot and paths for balance work, pushing drills, and basic turning. A good starting point for younger students.
Seely Place Park
A smaller neighborhood park with smooth paths and minimal foot traffic. Leon uses this spot when students want a focused, calm environment to work on specific skills.
Residential Streets
Edgemont's wide, well-maintained sidewalks and low-traffic streets are ideal for real-world skating practice. Once students have their balance down, Leon moves to these surfaces to build cruising confidence.
What to Expect
Edgemont has the kind of quiet, low-traffic streets and flat parks that make it a good spot for skateboard lessons. Leon comes to you — lessons happen at a park or on a calm stretch of pavement near your home. New skaters learn stance, balance, and pushing. Students who have been at it keep building — turns, kick turns, manuals, whatever they’re ready for.
Lessons last about an hour. Leon can provide a board if your child doesn’t have one yet, but having their own is encouraged.
