Skateboard Lessons in Bedford
One-on-one instruction at Bedford Memorial Park, the Village Green, and spots around Katonah and Bedford Hills.
Why Learn in Bedford
Quiet Roads, Open Space
Bedford's rural character means wide, smooth driveways and quiet residential roads in addition to park areas. Leon uses this to his advantage — beginners get the flat, low-traffic surfaces that build confidence fast.
Covers the Whole Area
Bedford Village, Bedford Hills, and Katonah are all within Leon's range. He meets you at whichever park or area works best for your family — no need to drive somewhere else.
Bedford sits in the northern part of Westchester, surrounded by the kind of open, wooded neighborhoods that don’t get much through traffic. That makes it a surprisingly good area for learning to skateboard — the parks have room to work, and the parking lots and paths stay manageable even on weekends.
Leon teaches across Bedford Village, Bedford Hills, and Katonah. If your kid has been asking to try skateboarding and you don’t want to deal with driving to one of the bigger skateparks, keeping lessons local and low-key usually works better for first-timers anyway. Less stimulation, less waiting around, more actual skating.
Where Lessons Happen
Leon teaches at parks and flat areas around Bedford. Here are the spots he uses most.
Bedford Memorial Park
Paved paths and open flat areas near the Bedford Hills train station. Leon uses the smooth walkways for pushing drills and balance work. Good parking and easy to find.
Bedford Village Green Area
The paved areas around the Village Green and nearby parking areas provide flat, smooth surfaces for beginners. A quieter setting that works well for younger kids.
Katonah Memorial Park
Flat paths and open space in Katonah, with enough room for cruising practice and turning drills. Leon uses this spot for students in the Katonah area.
What to Expect
Leon sizes up each student before they step on the board—where they’re at, what they want to learn, and what pace feels right. For first lessons, that means stance, balance, and pushing. For returning students, he builds on what you already know and pushes the difficulty at a pace that makes sense.
Each session is about an hour. Wear flat-soled sneakers and clothes that don’t restrict movement. Leon can provide a board if needed, but having your own is best for practicing between lessons. Helmets are required for students under 18.

What Students Say
“I hired Leon for 3 skateboard lessons for my 6 year old boy who had never been on a skateboard before but was very interested. He was an amazing teacher. Even after the first lesson my son had made so much progress. Leon was kind, playful and intentional — my son thought Leon was so cool and had the best time.”
